Hi, welcome to my page, Sweet Passion Cakes. My name is Gabriella and I'm the founder and creator of Sweet Passion Cakes. My baking journey started when I was a little girl and we visited relatives, especially with my grandparents. Wherever we went, I always asked for the recipe of a cake I liked. My dear mother was baking every single weekend, having a variety of delicious cakes at important celebrations.
Moving to Australia from Europe, my baking journey continued and really took off after the birth of my beautiful daughter. I remember buying her first year's birthday cake and admiring it so much that I baked her a cake every year after that, each one being better and better.
Loving to eat cakes so much, meant that I wanted to try new cakes all the time which of course meant more and more baking. One day I decided to change my profession from Beautician to Pastry Chef.
My love for baking lead me to grand establishments such as Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park, where I completed my apprenticeship, the world famous Swiss chocolate company, Lindt Sydney, where I worked as Senior Pastry Chef for over 6 years and gained further invaluable skills.
The highlight of my career was when I won a gold medal for coming first amongst all the students during my TAFE NSW studies as an apprentice pastry chef. Other successes were winning 1st place in 2011 at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in the Open division, wedding cake 2 tier or more and 3d placing at Sydney Royal Easter Show Masterclass division in 2014.
I also had the amazing opportunity of meeting France' most famous (world famous really) pastry chef, Pierre Herme. Always wanting to better my skills, I also took part in one of Pierre Herme' one week courses in Paris at the Highly regarded Culinary School, Ecole Gregoire Ferrandi. I was always inspired by the way french pastry chefs work and how they combine flavours, why certain small steps are crucial in creating an superior product when making a cake, pastry or a filling and also their strict work ethic. Today when I create any cake, I apply these skills to the benefit of all my customers.
I started my wedding and custom cake journey in 2009 when I setup my own business and since then I have created hundreds of delicious cakes. I love bringing a smile to people's faces and when that happens I know they enjoyed one of my creations. So let me create a spectacular cake for you!
